The New FDA Guidance on the Listing of Ingredients in Tobacco Products

The Federal Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) recently posted a new Guidance for the tobacco industry, entitled Listing of Ingredients in Tobacco Products, (the “Guidance”) concerning the mandatory listing of ingredients with a rapidly approaching deadline of December 22, 2009. Among several specific and noteworthy interpretations provided in the Guidance, the FDA has indicated it does not intend to enforce the December 22, 2009 deadline.

Study says teens smoking more pot, less tobacco

Cigarette smoking is out but pot use is in among the nation’s teenagers, who also report a higher use of prescription painkillers and a waning perception about the risk of illicit drugs, a federal study on students has found.

WASHINGTON – Methamphetamine use among teens appears to have dropped significantly in recent years, according to NIDA’s annual Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey, released today at a news conference at the National Press Club in Washington. However, declines in marijuana use have stalled, and prescription drug abuse remains high, the survey reported.
