BULGARIA: Govt Forced Down on Genetically Modifed Crops

Budapest, - Campaigning by environmental groups and the general public has weakened the determination of the Bulgarian government to allow the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) crops in this country.

My Word: Dosal is not Big Tobacco

Once again, out-of-state Big Tobacco is getting Florida associations to do its bidding, and now it seems it is the Florida Retail Dosal tobaccoFederation’s turn (“Tap tobacco for its fair share,” Orlando Sentinel, Monday).

Is total ban on smoking in works?

Could a total smoking ban in all public facilities, such as schools, hospitals, restaurants and hotels, which is set to be urged for all local governments by the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry, spread across the country and help prevent health hazards caused by secondhand smoke?

Tobacco Lozenges Seek FDA Stamp

Star Scientific Inc. said it filed the first application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to have a tobacco product certified as being less harmful than traditional forms of tobacco.
